March
Scalp lawn by 1/3 to remove brown leaf and allow soil to warm up faster. Apply a high nitrogen fertilizer such as 32 – 8 – 16 or similar, look for slow release formulas.
Spot spray any remaining weeds in shrub beds and turf areas with appropriate herbicides, once these are dead, the pre-emergent should provide satisfactory control for at least two months.
Plant your shrubs now!!! Shrubs planted in March will have a better chance of surviving Summer watering restriction.
Check and repair irrigation system.
Heavy rains and cool temperatures lead to fungal growth in turf grasses. Watch for brown/gray patches and discoloration. Identify problem and then choose an appropriate fungicide for acceptable control.
