Keep up with leaf removal as it occurs. Large amount of leaves left on turf can cause fungal problems.

Do not cut back perennials after first hard freeze, be patient and wait until after second hard freeze in December or January. Perennials that are cut back too early may experience a growth flush which will reduce chances of plant coming back in the Spring.

Apply band of granular insecticide along house foundation to deter insects from moving inside when temperatures drop.

Drain gasoline from power equipment and be sure to run engine until all gas has been removed from carburetor. Good time to drop your power equipment off at the mechanic for repairs and general service, as with contractors, equipment mechanics get swamped in late February.
