Sow wildflower seeds early in October before Fall rains start. It generally takes two or three years for all of you wildflower seed to germinate, so don’t be surprised if seeded area isn’t a masterpiece in the first year.

Reduce irrigation to one or two times a week.

Look for sales at nursery centers, fertilizers, chemicals, and most importantly trees are generally on sale in October.

Fertilize turf for last time of the year. “Winterizer” fertilizer should have a high amount of Potassium, look for a ratio of 1-1- 4 or similar.

Late October is a good time to make third application of pre-emergent herbicide, look for formula that provides good broadleaf control.
